Hi there,

I guess we've had the same idea! A hundred and twenty six days ago exactly, I started my own 365 project - to write a short story of 500 words or more every day. So far haven't failed!

If you want, you can visit my site at www.365stories.co.uk - please excuse some bad ones though as being employed full time, I have a tendency to start them at around half eleven at night and finish them around five minutes to midnight - so there is rarely time to stop and edit :)

Nice pickup, and re your comment about where the other kid is from? - it's the same kid, just the other side of his face. Really quite clever and beautifully done. Caught my eye immediately as a jacket design. Although for a kids book this would have scared the bejeezus out my youngun self.

This is what I do! I send a friend, every Wednesday, the Wednesday Website Wack. A short list of the things I find on the net that he needs to be aware of. This week i included The Shortlist Daily too - stop stealing my thunder! I admit that you might be a bit funnier than me but I am on par with grammar and spelling!

Hi Clare,

Your bookshop sounds fantastic (found the Country Tales page on Facebook). I don't envy you with telesales... There's some really strong titles coming for Christmas, so here's hoping it's a strong sales season!

A great year for Aussie fiction, but especially for first-timers: The Ottoman Motel (obviously!), Favel Parrett's "Past the Shallows", Jessica Au's "Cargo" and Penny Frew's "House of Sticks" to name just a few.

Thanks Chris, I manage an independent bookstore in Bright, a small but heavily touristed town in country Victoria. I do all the ordering, and have greatly appreciated your heads up on these books. I've already ordered Eugenides, but still midway through my October telesales - Penguin next!! Fun, but sometimes hard with first time Aussies you've never heard of but desperately want to support. Keep up the good work xx clare

Thanks Chris, it's good to know what will be on the shelves in the next few months. I'm ridiculously excited about a new Jeffrey Eugenides book. I will buy the relaunched Enid Blytons for my daughters even though they're only babies (ie for me) but am sad about the loss of Dick and Fanny...
